Description
While Mozart wrote his violin and piano concertos primarily for his own use, the wind concertos were mostly composed for various other soloists on the spur of the moment. Although the Oboe Concerto in C major K. 314 also bears the stamp of an occasional work under this aspect, it is nevertheless one of the outstanding examples of this genre in the 18th century. The work is characterised by a masterful combination of cantabile and joyful virtuosity.
